South Lake Primary School

Personal Development

Personal Development is carefully woven into all aspects of school life at South Lake. It is reflected in our school ethos- Respectful, Responsible and Ready. It is fundemental in our shared mission that all children leave primary school as confident and articulate characters, ready to face new challenges in the next stage of their journey.

At South Lake, we teach children the skills and knowledge needed in order to navigate life as respectful and responsible members of society. In a constantly changing world, it is the moral imperative of all staff, parents and carers to equip children with skills for life. We actively teach the children about the world and cultures around them, relationships with each other, emotions, reproduction and health as well as other transferable skills. We consistently promote British values and development of character, alongside our school values.

    • staff members consistently model how to be a good citizen who uphold the school values;
    • assemblies (whole school and oracy assemblies KS2);
    • e-Safety lessons in computing and assembly;
    • lunch time and after school clubs;
    • well thought through transitions throughout the school and beyond;
    • focusing on mental and physical health;
    • pupil council;
    • forest school;
    • careers fair;
    • celebrating different languages, cultures and religions;
