Joining South Lake in September 2020
For parents/carers of children who will be joining South Lake in September 2020
Welcome to South Lake! You will have received your school offer and soon we will be given a list of who will be coming to us - this happens after everyone has accepted their places and takes a few weeks.
Usually, we arrange a visit for you and your child in early July. At the moment, due to the school closures, we aren't sure yet if we will be able to do that, but please don't worry!
We will send you a welcome pack in June telling you which registration group your child will be in, and lots more information such as uniform ordering and school lunches. There will be forms for you to fill in and return such as medical information and contact details.
However and whenever it happens, we will ensure that your child has a transition visit to meet the staff before they start school full time. We will also speak to your child's current setting to get some information about their learning to ensure they can have a smooth start.
Our Reception year group is a free-flow unit of 60 children, with two registration groups. Once registration and phonics is done in the mornings, the children mix freely in the two rooms and the outside area. Your child will have a chance to meet all the members of staff who work across the unit at their visit.
Your information pack will also give you your child’s start date. Presuming that schools are open by then, start dates are spread across the first two school weeks in September so that we have a small number of new children at a time having their first day at school.
We look forward to meeting you all and working with you to support your child.
