During our PSHE unit of 'Dreams and Goals' we held a careers fair. We want to broaden our children's horizons and help them to make links between what they learn at school and the future jobs they may pursue.

The careers at the fair included:

Exams Manager at the University of Reading, Income tax consultant, Broadcast Engineer, Dental Hygienist, Tax Manager, Software Product Manager, Fitness instructor, Gymnastics Coach, Clinical Research Manager,  Accountant, Software Product Manager, P.E Teacher, Head of technical services-London eye, Research Scientist, Airline Pilot, Designer, Carpenter, Large goods vehicle Driver, Cyber Security Software Executive, Speech and Language therapist, Aeroplane technician and a Sports Physio.

  

Comments from the children

"I liked the careers fair because the adults brought so many things with us to look at. I liked how the adults explained their jobs clearly and showed things that they use in their work each day. It was exciting to look at careers we could do when we are older."

"I liked being able to see the different jobs and ask more about them. Also, I would never had thought about having one of those jobs but now I look at them differently."

"I liked that the lorry driver delivers Waitrose food to the shops. I liked the engineer because he mends plane's engines, and he said that without him, the plane wouldn't be able to fly safely."

I loved the pilot and seeing the jet. I loved going in the lorry because it was so fun!

What I found inspiring was the Scientist because there is a job that I would like to do that I might struggle to get. However, the man told me that he wanted to be a scientist when he was younger but he thought he wouldn't get it but he did! He told me to never give up and keep trying!
