We provide a knowledge based curriculum that is investigative and interactive, using oracy to enhance learning.  All children will develop a chronological understanding of the past and the influence it has on the world. They will be able to make links between different historical periods and compare them to their life and lives of others. 

History Themes:

We build on the children's previous History knowledge and vocabulary and make their learning memorable by referencing three themes, which recur throughout the teaching. Our themes are:                         

• Empire Building -  Children are taught how industry, war, invasion transport and inventions built empires over time.
   
• Childhood - Children are taught how education, housing, wealth, diet and leisure changed over time for children throughout history.
   
• Who's in Charge? - Children are taught how royalty, religion and pioneers have shaped history.
